Music seems to do it for me every time.

Just a few bars, and I’m remembering something; a moment, a feeling.

Music inspires me like little else. I revel in my senses; I love good smelling things, interesting tactile experiences, subtle tastes. Music is like a layer of gilding over even the most rusted bits of time. I appreciate something with real creativity and strong emotions attached to it.

Many times, pulling out an old album when I can’t write frees the words that are waiting in the wings.

It pulls memories and feelings from the corners they’ve been firmly wedged into. It dusts off ideas, kicking them firmly in the rear and sending them to work.

What inspires you?
